Diary Dates: Sparkle at Sydney’s International Food Festival

October used to be called Sydney’s Good Food Month but now we’ve gone global with an international food festival which includes everything from the ultimate dinner @ $1,750 per head through to the usual “Let’s Do Lunch” deals at our most popular hatted restaurants and not forgetting the traditional $8 dishes to be found at the Night Noodle markets in Hyde Park. This year we can look forward to the delights of a World Chef Showcase weekend…so there really is something for everyone, but as always, my focus is firmly on the bubbles – so here’s my pick of October’s epicurian experiences:

Friday 9th October
Bistro Guillaume with host John Baker PRICE $1,750 Australia’s first ever multi-vintage Petrus dinner – this truly magnificent feast commences with 1990 Dom Perignon (in magnum) and finishes with 1986 Chateau D’Yquem

Wed 14th October
Etch Champagne & Food Matching class with host Peter Bourne PRICE $75
A great opportunity to learn more about beautiful bubbles matched to fine food with the Wine Man himself

Wed 28th October
The Sun Room Champagne night PRICE $70
This is a wonderfully informal table tasting of approx 12 different Champagne styles with a few delicious canapés thrown in hosted in the decadent environs of Ivy. I thoroughly enjoyed Merivale Group Head sommelier Franck’s Champagne night at Est back in March 2009 so I anticipate this great value experience will be a real hoot – there are just a few tickets left so be quick and I’ll see you there!!
