In this signature champagne keynote Ladies Lunch led by real life Champagne Dame (Dame Chevalier Jayne Powell aka Champagne Jayne)you will pamper your palate as you unravel the fascinating inspirational stories of the most powerful women behind the bubbles…
Not long after Dom Perignon’s refined champagne was first introduced to King Louis XIV, its lightly effervescent sweetness soon became a favourite with the ladies of the French royal court. In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, when women of the upper middles class and higher were expected to marry, have children and run the household while men were involved in business and money-making, a number of strong-willed women came to the fore in the champagne industry and successfully challenged traditional female roles in society at the same time. Finding themselves in charge of a Champagne House either by choice or by circumstances beyond their control (usually the death of their husband or parent), these women were able to use their great strength of character and shrewd business sense to guide their Houses to fame and fortune.
