Champagne Cube by Pommery

How delightful to discover that, after a hard day’s shopping up and down Sydney’s ritziest retail precinct, in the middle of all that gloss and glamour, here’s the perfect spot to sit back and relax a while with a sparkling flute of champagne. Throw in delicious macarons by one of Australia’s finest francophile chefs and suddenly you’ve found a heavenly sanctuary.

Welcome to the Champagne Cube by Pommery!

Designed as a sleek minimalist cube, to complement the luxe marble and brushed stainless steel interiors of Westfield Sydney’s luxury precinct by renowned Japanese interior design firm Wonderwall, Pommery’s silver and blue themed temporary ‘salon prive’ open bar installation on Level 3 is comfortably nestled in the bosom of international luxury brands including Prada, Miu Miu, Gucci, Ferragamo and Mulberry – mon dieu how seductive!

Champagne Pommery, world renowned for its impressive annual art exhibitions hosted at the domaine in the underground labyrinth of ancient Roman chalk pits known as the “caves” which were originally acquired by house founder Madame Louise Pommery in the 19th century, is celebrating its 175th birthday in 2011.

Last year Pommery’s annual exhibition included an interesting collection of Tesco shopping trolleys installed on the front lawn (which looked to me like a spaceship) and a music installation in the cellars which featured live birds and remote controlled musical instruments.

But creating a pop-up champagne bar in the heart of Sydney’s (indoor) answer to London fashion mecca Bond St (Westfield Sydney, Level 3) is a pure masterstroke of innovative marketing. How aesthetically pleasing and yet how deliciously practical at the same time.

What a great way to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of Champagne Pommery!

Westfield Sydney Level 3 already features 10 international luxury retailers, whilst just upstairs offers luxury dining by Justin North’s Becasse and Quarter 21 restaurants, as well as extraordinary concierge services by Quintessentially. By time of completion in early 2012 this $1.2 billion development on both sides of Pitt St Mall will feature 280 speciality retailers, including many first to market flagship stores and multiple fine dining outlets. A perfect match with a little champagne appreciation any day of the week!
