Australia’s Champagne Jayne recognised around the world
Since immigrating to Australia and launching her ‘sparkling edu-tainment’ consultancy in 2003, award-wining champagne journalist and educator Jayne Powell (aka Champagne Jayne), Dame Chevalier de L’Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne (Champagne Dame), has become one of the media’s go-to experts for authoritative and engaging opinions on the complex yet divine subject that is champagne, with regular appearances on mainstream TV, radio and in the press.
In 2011 Champagne Jayne’s first authored book “Champagnes – Behind The Bubbles” won the prestigious Gourmand Award for “Best French Wine Book” (Australia) and was named number four “Best French Wine Book in The World” at the Paris CookBook Fair 2012.
In 2012 Champagne Jayne also won the Champagne Educator of the Year Award at The 2012 Champagne Summit in London. The two runners up were previous winner Richard Bampfield MW and Laura Clay (CIVC European Ambassador 2010).
In September 2012 Jayne’s life long affair with the bubbles and her uncanny ability to effortlessly engage and enthuse audiences around the world on her favourite subject was recognised by Champagne industry itself when she was inducted into the famous global confrerie ‘L’Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne’ by Commandeur Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger.
Jayne is a regular commentator on Australian TV and an in demand international conference speaker, recognised as a thought leader in the social engagement space. She has presented at the Sydney International Food Festival and the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in Australia, at the Gourmand World CookBook Fair in Paris, at The Champagne Summit and at Social Media Week in London and at Time Out Young Chef of the Year Awards in Dubai. The Financial Times newspaper has nick-named Champagne Jayne a “champagne socialist”.
